they've ran into some trouble
over figuring out the past
things that came by fleetingly
and things that will never last
diction spoke kindly so that everybody could hear
and they stood in narrow hallways
light bruised out to bear
and thoughts of malediction
and crucibles of the past
all went by sadly singing
they had done what would last
fallen few who see who knew
they could have done it all
and standing out for all to see
is the reason why they call
the standing stone it sits
they have lost their wits
because they went too far
to seek out what they saw
and never mattered mostly
back on the ranch that day
they stood and said, they
did their deed, they wondered
why the cause had to be so hard
